To Tilt or not to Tilt

The towing characteristics of a tilt trailer are different than those of a dovetail or flatbed. The axles are placed forward to accommodate the tilt operation.

Customers should be aware that loads should be centered over and ahead of the axles for optimum towing. In addition, tilt trailers should never be loaded tail heavy. This will make the trailer tend to swing. Remember the rear of the tilt is basically your ramps. Always insure the locking pin is engaged and locked prior to towing. Always insure that the trailer is level and secured to towing vehicle prior to loading or unloading. When towing trailer empty, keep the tongue approximately 2” higher than normal for best towing characteristics.

Now you can decide, tilt or not tilt !
