Regularly Maintain your new Rollsrite
Trailer
|
|
Several small maintenance items and
regular checks, can greatly extend the life and
serviceability of your Rolls Rite trailer. Maintaining
proper tire pressure greatly reduces wear, increases
mileage, and improves load capacities. Torque lug nuts
regularly to decrease wobble, preclude wearing out lug holes
in wheels, and insure that wheels do not pass you in route.
Check grease fittings and keep grease from drying, or
overheating necessary parts. Check your jack handles to
prevent loose connections, and check your jack foot/feet to
make sure they are not bent, or down when driving. Cross
your chains to the towing vehicle, and if they are too close
to the ground, give them a couple of twists to raise them.
Make sure your trailer plug matches the towing vehicle, and
that it is securely connected and all lights and brakes are
operating properly. Check that there are no unsecured items
on the trailer deck, and that all equipment, tools, and
supplies are secured with chains, straps, or safely stored
in locked tool boxes or chain trays. Before towing, please
insure that you have proper licenses, permits, tags, and
safety features, and that you have checked to make sure that
loads are within proper carrying capacities, and safely
secured. |
10 Ton Models to fit your needs
|
|
Most of you know that we build 10 ton trailers, and that we
build them in pintle and gooseneck hitches, and that they
can be flatbeds, dovetails, or tiltbed units. You probably
even know that you can get them in electric, air, or
hydraulic over electric, braking systems. But there is more
that you may not be aware of. We build a great standard 10
ton model with stacked crossmembers, rub rail and stake
pockets, LED lighting and so forth, but we also build a
professional contractor series. The pro series is standard with
pierced crossmembers, a lower profile, heavier duty axles,
and many standard features that would be options on most trailers.
For the cost difference, this may enhance your sales. Ask
your rep. for info. |
What should I buy, which brakes do I need
?
|
|
I talk to many customers who really
aren’t sure which trailer units they need or what type of
brake system they should have. Some basic questions to ask
yourself, or ask your customers in order to help with their
purchase are: What will I be hauling with my trailer? What
weight trailer will I need to haul my max load ? Is my truck
set up for electric, air or both ? Do I plan to upgrade to
larger equipment in the near future? Do I have a hitch for
gooseneck, bumper pull, or semi? Are there special needs I
need to consider, such as color, larger toolboxes, extra
width, length etc...? All these questions you should discuss
with your dealer or factory representative, who will not
only help you answer them, but design the perfect unit for
your needs. If you are not happy with electric brakes for
example, you might try electric over hydraulic disk brakes. Air brakes are available on 10
ton units or above and can be upgraded from an electric unit. |
To Tilt or not to Tilt |
|
The
towing characteristics of a tilt trailer are different than
those of a dovetail or flatbed. The axles are placed forward
to accommodate the tilt operation. Customers should be aware
that loads should be centered over and ahead of the axles
for optimum towing. In addition, tilt trailers should never
be loaded tail heavy. This will make the trailer tend to
swing. Remember the rear of the tilt is basically
your ramp/s. Always insure the locking pin is engaged and
locked prior to towing. Always insure that the trailer is
level and secured to towing vehicle prior to loading or
unloading. When towing trailer empty, keep the tongue
approximately 2” higher than normal for best towing
characteristics. Now you can decide, tilt or not tilt ! |
Dealer stocking requirements for spring 08. Happy new
Year |
|
Well it’s time to ponder just how many,
and what types of those great Rolls Rite trailers you are
going to need here in the next couple of months. The dealers
in the colder climates may take a little longer to decide,
but when the orders start coming don’t be the last one
calling, as you must allow for production times. We stayed a
little busier this winter, and by the way thanks for helping
us stay that way. It looks as though the construction
industry and home sales are going to pick up, although the
way it has been, up is about the only direction it could go.
Take into consideration the types and models of trailers you
sold last year, best sellers, and the new models that Rolls
Rite is offering. The new mini-master, the 12 and 14 K tiltbeds, and the 10 ton professional series trailers are
always good bets. Please get your orders in early to insure
you get them when you need them, and to help us schedule
your units in a timely manner. All the best in 2008. |
ROLLS RITE TRAILERS, “WHEN QUALITY COUNTS” |
|
When speaking with a dealer the other
day, I was asking questions about the options and features
the dealer might want on his trailer. Sometimes the words he
is saying and what I am thinking may not match. We try to
ask all the pertinent questions, but I am sure we miss
things sometimes. If you have features you want, or options
you think you need, please help us to ask the right
questions, and if we spend too much time talking, make us
listen. It is much better to get the trailer right the first
time than to have to add or subtract something later. We
want you to have what you need. Thank you !

Getting your units to you
Delivery times are very important to both
our dealers and factory customers. We want to be known as
the company who “does what they tell you they are going to
do”. This means that when you order your units and we tell
you it will be 2-3 weeks for delivery, that is what we
expect it to be, and are doing everything we can to insure
that you receive your unit or units in that time frame, and
with no sacrifice to the quality you’ve come to expect.
One way dealers and customers can help us in
timely delivery, is to tell us when they would like to have
their units in order to meet the demands of their customers
or business needs. All we ask is that you are reasonable in
your requests. A request for a 3 day delivery on a unit that
has to be built would make it pretty tough on anyone, as I
am sure you will all agree. Our customers are important
enough to us that we will take special rush requests into
consideration, build special custom features on your units
for you, and make special shipping arrangements if necessary
to meet your needs. As always, we look forward to serving you, and are
constantly making improvements to our service, sales,
models, and options, in order to be your manufacturer for
many years to come.
We would love for you to tell us what you think about our
1st edition of the “Rumbler”. Any suggestions you have as to
content of our publication, stories you would like to
submit, funny anecdotes concerning trailer sales, or the
trailer business in general, will be most appreciated.
E-mail submissions, whether in picture, text, or file mode
to sales@rollsrite.com. Thank you for taking the time to
read our newsletter, and here’s wishing you a
prosperous 2008. |
